Charities that provide autism assistance dogs do so at a cost upwards of £20,000 per dog and are often only able to provide a very limited number of support dogs a year as they are reliant on gaining full funding.
As a non-profit organisation, our families pay a contribution towards the overall training costs of an Autism Life Dog, allowing us to provide more dogs for more families in a year. Autism Life Dogs aim to keep our costs down as much as possible whilst still wanting to provide top-quality dogs and service.
We continue to create working relationships with charities and other fundraising organisations to offer fully or part-funded Autism Life Dogs and will offer our advice and support where possible to families raising funds.
We offer the following options for Autism Life Dogs:
Our Forever Friends are dogs that have not been bred or raised by us and may previously have been with other services, including other disability support dog training organisations, or search and rescue, as examples.
Forever Friends are fully-trained adult dogs between 12 – 30 months old. Whilst these dogs have not been with us since birth they must still meet our assessment criteria and have all of the attributes we look for in our very special dogs.
Our Perfect Pals are bred by top experienced Kennel Club registered breeders and are fully health-checked to ensure they have a first-class heritage; are clear of hereditary disorders or health issues. These puppies are raised by us and trained from 8 weeks old to ensure they have a solid foundation for the important long-term work that they will do.
All of our current Perfect Pals have been matched with their forever families.
We are now accepting applications for our waiting list for the next litter of Perfect Pals due for placement in 2018. If you are interested in the Perfect Pals programme please get in touch with us via our online application form.
If you already have a special dog in your family it may be possible for us to train him or her in the Autism Life Dog programme.
This will require one of our team to do an initial skills assessment on your dog at a cost of £250.
Please contact us via our online enquiry form for more details.
Do get in touch with us via our online enquiry form and we will be happy to talk through which programme pathway may be most suitable for your family and individual circumstances.
