Charities that provide autism assistance dogs do so at a cost upwards of £20,000 per dog and are often only able to provide a very limited number of support dogs a year as they are reliant on gaining full funding.
As a non-profit organisation, our families pay a contribution towards the overall training costs of an Autism Life Dog, allowing us to provide more dogs for more families in a year. Autism Life Dogs aim to keep our costs down as much as possible whilst still wanting to provide top-quality dogs and service.
We continue to create working relationships with charities and other fundraising organisations to offer fully or part-funded Autism Life Dogs. Once you have been accepted onto our programme we will offer our advice and support where possible to families raising funds.
We also have a number of ALD families who have successfully raised their contribution through grants and fund-raising who are happy to guide new families with the process.
The family contribution towards the training and placement of an Autism Life Dog is £9000.00.
This includes fully trained and certified autism assistance dog; autism support dog harness, halti and double lead; family handler training and manual; aftercare support; Skills Sign-off and Public Access Test.
You may also wish to purchase a Therapy Toybox at a cost of £300.00 which contains all of the equipment needed to play the games of the Autism Life Dog Therapy Programme. Purchase of a Therapy Toy-box is optional as the therapy programme has been designed to work with toys and items easily available in stores, online or around the house.
Please note prices are excluding VAT. Contributions made with donations and grants are not subject to VAT.
Please also consider the on-going food, health and insurance costs of having a dog, which is estimated around £1500.00 per year.
